About

Following the exceptional success of Faramondo, Parnassus Arts Productions has once again collaborated with the the celebrated Swiss-based ensemble I Barocchisti and its conductor Diego Fasolis.

While much of Vivaldi’s instrumental music now enjoys considerable popularity, his operas – 45 of them – are still only rarely performed. Farnace, first seen during at the Teatro di Sant’Angelo in Venice at Carnival time inFebruary 1727, became a landmark in Vivaldi’s later operatic output; it was staged a a number of times in the space of a few seasons, but the production planned for the 1739 Carnival in Ferrara was cancelled before the opera could be performed. The version prepared by Vivaldi for Ferrara in 1738 had remained unperformed and unrecorded until its revival by Parnassus Arts Productions.
